Here's the site, I couldn't find the WW1 sniper rifle mentioned, but if you scroll down there is a good few nice enfields there, with nice prices. Anyone for a $1200 jungle carb?

They were used in the earlier conversions. They were made during WWI. Introduced in 1915 for the R.F. rifle mkIII. But it can be used with other rifles.

Has anyone made an insert for a No.1 Mk3 mag from and existing available .22 magazine that feeds reliably? If so what were the details and process please?

Thats pretty cool. I emaile dthe Seller and he said sending to teh USA
would be too much hassle with permits etc whihc is a blow. So I'll have to make my own I guess, which brings me back to the question : Has anyone actually made a functioning .22LR magazine for a NO.2 rifle by using an existing 22LR mag fitted inside the shell of the magazine?

It annoys me when sellers don't have the courage to put a price on an item and ask for offers. They're too scared of falling a dollar short if they make a mistake.

The No7 (not CNo7) magazine was manufactured from a No1 magazine with a BSA 'sporter 5' .22 magazine as an insert. As you know the No7 was a No4 derivative but the principle could no doubt be applied to a No1 based rifle (No2 Mk4*)
The problem would be getting the No2 bolt head to 'pick up' and chamber the .22 cartridge.
The No7 had a totally redesigned and radically different bolt head to achieve this.
So - to answer your question - YES a No1 magazine has been modified to fit a .22rf cartridge but I know of no examples of where it has been fitted (or worked) in a No2

Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

Parker Hiscock Magazine sold for $900 Aussie
Just for your information.
Spoke today with the seller. He is located 30 minutes drive East from my offices.
The Parker Hiscock mag sold earlier today for $900.00 Aussie to a local collector.
That equates to $930 USD, $921 CAD, $1,133 NZD and 564 GBP. Way beyond my budget!!
Seller explained that under our very restrictive Western Australian
State Laws, as a Licenced Firearms Dealer, he now has to apply for an export permit from Austrlian Customers to export a firearms part. He also has to record in his sales of both firearms and firearms parts in his register.
Cheers
Paul
