M1 Carbine sling question
Looking at some of my C-Tip Carbine slings today and noticed that some of the snaps are steel and some brass.
Were steel and brass snaps up to the manufacture or are the steel snap slings not USGI?
Brass on the left, steel on the right
Thanks guys

Answer found. Slings were made with both type fasteners
Thanks

There was a period of time when there was a shortage of brass, or at least a perceived shortage, and the government let manufactures change their original contract specs calling for brass to be substituted for steel - Cartridge belts, and all sorts of web gear with 'lift the dot' fasters too. The M1
helmet strap buckles were originally brass but substituted for painted steel and it helps date their age today.
