Patrick,
That is the exact same one I gave gunner when this thread was first started. Actually I gave him the entire document for every last part to the gun. I believe it was around 50 pages, but I could be mistaken. It makes me wonder if me and weaponengineer got it from the same place, another forum that specializes in building weapons. Kind of funny anyhow. PM me your email address if you want the set too and I'll send it to you.

On some K Date P.08's the front sight collar is longer than standard. The measurement from the front of the barrel to the sight is noticeably longer.

Connoisseurs of thread sizes will note that the barrel thread is WHITWORTH form thread and 20 tpi, although the external diameter is 18mm. This appears to have been a general Mauser trait - the threads for both large and small ring Mauser rifle actions are also Whitworth threads, regardless of the diameter. So anyone strangling a new barrel cut with a UNF thread form (60 degree included angle) into a Mauser action is making a nonsense of the whole concept of thread fitting. The difference in the included angles will mean that the male and female threads will only contact at the bottom of the UNF thread. If the barrel is tightened up to the same torque as for properly mating threads, then there will be a huge shear force and considerable distortion of the mating faces along the thin line of contact.

Reason: male & female threads confused!

I recently purchased some blue prints from ebay for the Walther P38, drawings etc were good, possibly reproduced a few times but all the info was there.
Not wanting to produce one in 9mm, but was looking at trying to produce a drawing of it in .22 with a 12" barrel and brace as to comply with our laws.
The weapons guild, I frequent now and again, it does have a lot of info, but there some projects I see that make me cringe, and as for safety.......

Those are nice drawings in the PDF.
Engineering drawings are high art as far as I am concerned so I appreciate them for what they are - drawings.

I´ve often wondered about the DWM & Mauser threads. The only other screw threads on a P08 (Luger) are the two screws holding the grips in place and they´re not DIN either. Loewe (who owned DWM/Mauser) was the initial founder of the German
DIN norm during WWI. But Mauser seems always to have stuck to his own thread sizes (`tis the same on my M71 carbine).

For anyone looking for a barrel for P08, Lothar Walther do a selection of in the white barrels (without chamber) with a 19mm thread length, size,s from standard to artillery.
