    what hapened to the trap door?

    It's up at my fathers house in PA and unfortunately i'm down in NC. I'll see if i can get him to take a few pictures of it and if so i'll post them on here. Originally he was told it was a 50-90 round so he spent a descent amount of money for a box of 20 only to find out that it was actually chambered for 50-70. he's shot it a few times and says it's a good shooter but will be keeping it in his safe more often than not. That thing sure weighs a ton though.

    Just did a little research and it looks like it was an M1863 muzzle loader that was converted to a trap door for the 50-70 cartridge which was the predecessor M1873 Trap Door Springfield.
