Speaking of Bayonets....Belgian?

The Enfield trials bayonet is quite rare. You need to see the stamping X2E1. They are very similar to the FN bayonet of the period both have prongs which form a flash hider. They tend not to be in very good condition. The FN trials were conducted in Malaya. The jungle is not very kind to kit! Only ever seen two on sale, one of which I own! The last one I saw on sale in poor condition, the dealer wanted £185.00. So if you have one of the trails bayonets put away for the future,please put some oil on it.

The X2E1 marked bayonets and X2xx marked scabbords are for the the British contract X8E1/E2/ect. series rifles.

The Canadian Ex1 & Ex2 rifle bayonets are unmarked except for rifle serial numbers (and the belgian inspectors markings). Some of the Canadian Ex bayonets were never serialed to match rifles.

I have one of these bayonets. I bought it at a gun show in Detroit circa 1984. It has SA on the metal grip and a plastic scabbard with frog. It fits the Steyr import "match" rifle that I have with the "US" hider flash. I also have some of the UK bayonets that look like this bayonet but they don't fit the US rifle. They were built to fit over the barrel of an FAL with no hider flash thus the prongs.

The bayonet that I have, T48 style, is the only one I have ever seen, anywhere. It is interesting to note that the only rifles I have ever seen with the T48 hider flash on them besides the T48 and the US imports is the Cuban contract rifle.

Anyone know of any FALs that had this hider flash besides these models??????
