We know that the Greek armorers used biscuit repairs to salvage cracked wood on the rifles they borrowed from the U.S.

Did stateside armorers ever implement biscuit repairs on USGI weapons?

Here is a Greek repair:



They don't bother me particularly-in light of the fact that they convey history and increase wood strength. I am putting this handguard on a 1918 restored M1903.

Opinions on biscuit repairs?

I've seen biscuit repairs only on rifles that had been to Greece.

I have an Enfield No. 4 fore-end with biscuit repairs.

Replacement handguards were extremely plentiful during the U.S. Army's days with the M1903/1903A3. They would have tossed the split/cracked handguard and grabbed another one.

This is an M1 carbine stock that came into the shop awhile back. I don't know when or ware this was done.....Frank

I was going to answer Pete by stating that I have seen them on British rifles in addition to Greek owned rifles. I am glad I wasn't wrong. Thanks Patrick for reinforcing my memory. The Brits seem to be rather "thrifty" in some areas. Or maybe they were done in a foreign outpost where replacement parts were not available. Rick is right about the US having plenty of spares and not worrying about repairs.

You remembered correctly Rick. There are 3 biscuits on the ( replacement [swapped], but still Remington ) "Lend/Lease" handguard on that rifle. As stated, the Brits could be "thrifty" at times.
