Lithgow FTR process
Does anyone know if the FTR process (specifically at Lithgow
after WWII) included firing/sighting test for each SMLE rifle?
My MA53 FTR is unfired by me, but I wonder if (generally speaking) FTR rifles might have had a few rounds in the FTR process.

Just as a guess I'd say they were test fired.
I see you're in the Big Smoke so why don't you just drop over to the SAF museum for the day and ask them?

If you aren't determined to keep factory grease in the bore, stick a few drops of Sweets 7.62 through the barrel... you will see it pull blue, I will bet on it.

They were all test fired if Lithgow
followed the procedures used in the UK
. You can do all the work you like on your car but you don't know how it all comes together until you've driven it. Same with the rifle
