303 Enfield Help

I'm gonna have to do some stock work on it(it's kinda loose up front), and it hasn't been cut down.

BB79, If you mean tha barrel moves then this is how it should be, $190 sounds a good deal for an LB.

No the stock wiggle's, the barrel is fine it doesn't move, the gun is still in layaway so I thought I'd ask(sorry for the newb question, been trying to research as much as I can) did these come without the stock like a SMLE, the barrel is exposed on the gun and looks different from an SMLE.

Hi, If you were up here in Canada the Lee Enfield No4 Mk1 Longbranch would sell for about $800-$1000, if it was in its original condition. Cut down its a $50-$100 gun.

I think what he meant to say is the stock moves, not the barrel. This is normal. It will probably move about an 8th inch. The barrel bands should have the two stock pieces tight together. The barrel is more or less free floating inside the stock pieces for accuracy purposes.

I owe $90 on the gun now, I'll have it out at the end of the month and then I'll take picture's ASAP.

It's probably a No 4 MK1*. Check with another good No4 rifle. The barrel is supposed to float slightly. 10mm or so. New woodwork is easy to find. DO NOT SWAP MAGAZINES WITH AN SMLE/No1 rifle. They jam in.

My favorite feature of this Enfield is the grain of the wood towards the buttstock, it kinda makes tiger stripes:



























It's missing the ladder sight I guess is what it's called, so I will be trying to procure one somewhere.

It's definately been sporterized, but that isn't a problem with me, this gun will be used for what it was intended, I will be shooting Feral Hogs in the summer, maybe some Coyote's, and Deer in the Fall.

Actually the rear sight is not one of the things this No.4 is missing. It was most likely originally built with the 2 position "L" sight that's still resident on this piece...

Just to add, Enfield can be confusing also with a Enfield P14

Lee Enfield : No1 and No4 ( well mostly)

Enfield : P14 ( completely another thing, have a Mauser action among other things)
