Just be fortunate that you don't live in the socialist workers' paradise of UK
: standard fuel is at £1.41 (= CDN$2.21)or so a litre at the moment, and on its way up again soon........

I expect by summer we will be paying somewhere around $1.50 a litre and what these oil companies don't realize is there is a breaking point where they can expect a serious backlash. IF people were organized and boycotted just one maker the price would drop like a stone within a couple of weeks.
All the whiners here say , "bottled water costs more", however you don't have to buy bottled water if you don't wish to where we need fuel to survive. Unlike many countries we in Canada
are so spread out and to be honest public transportation stinks.

Well not much more than we are and prices here were $1.32 a few days ago but they wouldn't hold so back down a bit. What drives me crazy, and to be honest not a very far trip at times, is the fact I remember buying gas for my 1962 VW Beetle. At .36cents a gallon bone dry was $3.20 and that lasted me at least two weeks. I think that works out to a 8 cents a litre + or -. Cost me 1cent per mile to drive it IIRC. Mind you I did make a "little" less wage wise...LOL.
Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?

$2.21 per litre - how the devil do the silly stunts on "Top Gear" get funded?
I knew that fuel was pricey over there, just goes to show that a bloke shouldn't really whinge, there is always somebody in a worse situation than him...
Anyway, since I've managed to get us off topic, a couple of pics to get us back on.

After seeing the price on one of these - WOWSER!! I can by a Jungle Carbine in very good condition for under $500 from a local shop here. And I can reload 303 cheaper than I can buy it for an awfully long time! It looks cool but not at that price. I'm also pretty convinced that I could do some welding and take a couple of 10 round magazines and make one 18 rounder out of it with little to no problems.
Be well,
Steve

You are lucky to be able to get decent No 5's for under $500, last good ones I saw here were asking $1200 and upwards. In my case, if I was going to shell out that sort of coin, I may as well get a brand new rifle, in a calibre that would be kinder on my shoulder.
I have often had the same thought about grafting 2 .303 mags together; I think there would be a problem in getting the follower to "turn the corner" given that the ribs on a 303 mag are straight. There might be more success in welding up a 303 mag and a Bren one - you're going to need a longer mag spring anyway....

Where I live I have purchased 7.62 X 39 for around .17 cents per round (corrosive) by the case and have never found anything I can reload at that price. I know is the US from following ammo prices your "39" ammo seems to be more expensive than here in Canada
. Your 7.62 X 54 is cheap compared to what we pay but reloading for me in .303 is not cheap at all by the time you buy a good bullet, primer and powder. I do agree I can reload .303 for less than buying commercial but not even close to what I can buy "39" for.
IF you ever find a AIA B2 or 3 buy it as they are great guns and in .308 excellent for long range shooting.
I called my friend with the No4 mkIV that has the heavy barrel and he told me only 10 were imported into Canada. That gun is a fantastic shooter and I am not sure if any were ever in the US.

Back to the price of petrol in the UK
. To be honest and fair, it's not the PETROL that is expensive, it is the TAX that makes it expensive. First there is petrol duty on the price, THEN they have the bare faced cheek to charge you another 20% tax on the first tax AND the price oif the petrol.

We are in the same boat here Peter. The tax is probaby close to 50% of the cost and being based on the price at retail they just get more everytime the prices goes up. We literally are awash in oil here in the West and what really drives most of us crazy is the fact so often Eastern Canada
(Ontario) has lower prices than we do. Well all know we have to try to keep Ontario happy...

Well shot today at 100m and the gun will shoot however again stuck cases in the chamber so need input on what to do. Of course clean the chamber with something like lacquer thinner and how about wiping the neck of each shell with it to remove the majority of lacquer before shooting. Being old and sort of retired I do have the time to do that and if someone has a better idea please let me know.
Off this subject we shot with a gentleman who was using a Sako in 375 H&H Magnum with a grouping problem. He was using a "sled" but this gun would not group at 100m. The first shot was perfect then it put two laddered to the upper left both about 1.5 inches apart. Then it would put one high right. He asked my son to shoot it and he put the first two in the same hole (virtually) then a high left then one about 3/4 inch from the first two and then one hight right. Needless to say this man is not very happy and said the gun just won't zero properly and I think witnessing it today I must agree. My son said all the shots felt good and he was extremely careful trying his best to do a perfect group.
Next thing is the bolt often won't pick up a new round and chamber it. It can take several tries and again when you load the mag the top ctg looks a little low in the mag. This is a major problem as he bought this gun to hunt Grizzly's and the last thing you want is not being able to chamber a round when you really need it.
The loads were 350gr Barnes bullets with 66 grains of RL15 powder. Think he was pushing the top of the scale?
Any ideas on the Sako?
