Build date
Some really good information in NL #337. Shows the last number that was applied each day at Winchester.
As BQ points out however, these are the dates the numbers were applied to receivers, not the dates of completion, which could add another 30-45 days.
The last number applied on December 17. 1942 was 1013732
The last number applied on December 18, 1942 was 1014251
I don't have CC NL #337. When I joined I think it started @ CC NL # 345~, I do have the first 3-4 years worth that were passed on to me from a fellow CC member. But still have a rather big gap.
My question is regarding the build date for the WRA 1,030,621 I picked up recently.
IIRC WRA stopped dating their barrels late 12-42 (?)
Do you think I'd be close guessing my build date say: Late Jan-Mid Feb 1943?
Thx,
Charlie-painter777

Hey Charlie,
Per NL #336 the highest reported dated barrel of 2-43 is 1027534
Per NL #337 the last number applied on 2-12-43 is 1030598 and on 2-13-43 is 1030898
Best regards,

I don't recall ever seeing a 43 dated WRA barrel.
Amazing being able to track a gun back to the day it received it's serial number.
Thx,
Charlie

It was a very slow February for Winchester carbine production with only 4010 carbines made. Must have been a whole month of Saturdays.
