I tried that left hand on the small of the butt bit as like it says in the British training manual but I could not get the gun to stay where I want it to.

I sort of miss those days...when we spoke directly like that.

Maybe underhand would do it. Fingers together and pointing back at your shoulder on the outside of the butt. I too tried to use overhand but my cheek bone doesn't allow me to get past my knuckles. OR, you could get the handle and butt combination to hold it the way it was designed. I'm sure Peter can locate one in his store...somewhere.
