There's been a great deal done to that rifle, you have good reason to question. The rear of the chamber is my first worry. Something has been done there that I didn't do to any of mine. The chamber, all you have to do is thumb in a cartridge or drill round if you're afraid it will go off in your hand. One will fit and one won't. The receiver tail is still marked .30, M1icon right? No marking of 7.62? It should be as marked...should! Back to a 30-06 and 308 round...It's built on a commercial Sprinfield receiver so it's a crapshoot...(who done it?) as they say? It may work or not.

The original rifle was longer and these were done to mimic the short carbines that were done experimentally during the war. They were unsuccesful and these aren't much better. They have a flash like an anti tank gun and a corresponding report, as one vet put it...I'd put my money else where if you're thinking on buying.
