Mauser Modelo Argentina 1891 questions
just recently picked up my very first Mauser... after doing my home work on the gun Im disappointed to say its been sportized...
the guns info is : trademarks/ handshake, a diamond, and a shield with AS inside of it, 350, X
Mauser Modelo Argentina 1891 Manufactura Loewe Berlin
Serial Number: K 6371
Im trying to find out specs on the gun barrel length to see if its been cut, wheter or not its a carbine etc. I do know the serial number and handshake trade marks are the same on the reciever, bolt, and stock.... will post a pic as soon as i can... thanks in advance....

Doesn't look long enough for a full length rifle but the front sight is not appropriate for a carbine. If it is a carbine, the bolt being bent is correct. If it is a full length rifle, it is not. The stock is not original, that style was never used, unless the extended pistol grip and cheek guard were added on. In any case, the stock was cut short and is missing the upper handguard. Looks like it is missing part of the rear sight. It has also been drilled and tapped for the scope.

The rear sight base looks like it was for a rifle. The front sight looks to me to be fine, though. The bolt handle is bent in a different way than would be correct for a carbine, having the concave rather than a convex curvature on it's upper surface. Done in order to clear the scope.
What is the barrel length?

just talked to the guy I got it from he said he had fron sight and rear sight removed, also had stock cut short to resemble rifle today, measured barrel lenght from tip of barrel to center of bolt is 24 inches, was tapped for scope mount and stock was tapped in the front for sling mount...... It is however still 7.65x53 cal. have rounds that are 7.65x53.5........
I admit this is my first mauser and I did not do any research on the gun till after I got it....
