Anyone have any experience with these chamber inserts?

No experience, but there is a school of thought that says chamber inserts are a cheap way to enjoy a full bore rifle shooting light loads. Surplus 7.62x25 is sold by the spam can these days. They are a good idea for a landowner who likes to plink at little targets or has only a few rifles but likes to experiment with shooting different ways. Bear in mind that in Canada
.32ACP is a prohibited cartridge along with .25ACP. Apparently we are a safer country having fewer small calibre centrefire handgruns, in favour of larger 9mms and 40S&Ws.

The wife likes to shoot, but the recoil from anything more than 7.62x39mm is too much for her. I have a few boxes of Prvi Partizan 7.62x25mm and thought one of these chamber inserts might be a way she could enjoy shooting these guns.
My main concern is her safety. How do you check headspace with these inserts? The insert has the rim but the cartridge is rimless.

I think you would headspace the insert just like any cartridge. The big rimmed cases would seat against the face of the barrel, and the smaller cartridge headspaces against its mouth. Somewhere I read that the insert extracts normally, and the shooter pokes out the spent casing with a little wooded dowel shipped with the insert.

I loaded up some full sized shells with trail boss and lead 32-20 rounds. I'll tell you how it shoots after the mud dries up at the range. I also have 5 rounds I made with a 32 cal ball I drilled out the pimer pocket enough to hold the primer and will test those out. I'm told by some old timers I trust that you get aboout 700 feet persecond out of those although after 15 yards they aren't accurate.

I bought one and tried it. It works but it is slower than a muzzle loader. Too much time and labor removing spent case from adapter. you need five of them so you could load your magazine and shoot normally. then retrieve them and remove cases, I have had all I want of it.
