Unusual cartouche
I saw this cartouche at the range last week. The owner allowed me to take a picture of it but removed the rifle first.
Has anyone ever seen one like it?

Was a commercial CAI receiver in the stock? I'd guess that CAI stamped some stocks that were used to assemble their rifles. BTW, it's a nice looking stock though.

I think someday someone will wish it was not so "well struck"

CAI stamped some of their rifles that way to give them the look of "real, original, rifles" rather than the "cast receiver, used parts, might even work rifles" that they are. I have no idea who GRP is or was or just random letters.

GRP is sometimes used...
...as an abbreviation for "Group". I wonder if that's what they intended?
Good Luck,
Tommy

A couple of more unusual cartouches I have run across.
