Lavol. If you want to SPOIL your rifle by making it into a copy of an Enforcer - which it isn't and never will be, then go ahead and drill the body for the rings. But if you want a good, competitive telescope rifle that LOOKS like an enforcer but remains unchanged - UNLIKE a permanently changed Enforcer copy, then just put a steel one-piece scope rail onto it. Steady as a rock and available from Brian at BDL Ltd in SC.

I know some with a less engineering bent/talent than me (if you'll excuse my pre-emptive strike chaps......) will tell you that drilling the radial breeching up/breech ring is a satisfactory way to go but in REAL engineering terms, it ain't and never will be. It's crap. And the Enforcer was ALWAYS the third best option that the then Home Office settled for because they were a) available, b) British, c) most cops were brought up on Enfields and d) cheap - because the government already owned them. They aren't my words, but the words of Major George Sxxxxxx who was running the Home Office advisory team at the time. The way to go is the BDL one piece solid-as-a- rock mount.

Just my 2c's worth before you start to drill, tap and eventually spoil a good rifle! I have my steel helmet at my side, awaiting the incoming from the Enforcer fiends...................

I never drill rifle otherwise, I like milsurp in their state

I know I'll never do an enforcer of DCRA,
but I like the look of a enforcer and as he is already prepared to receive the bases parker hale,
I already have scope, then i make myself a nice present

and if I see that the gun shoots so well, and does not keep its zero
I resell the scope, the base and rings and return to peep sight that I 'much appreciates

for the BDL mount, I had already noticed this article and thought it was the best for a No. 4 drilled without anything

I am doing my project Hunting Rifle
from a No. 4 longbranch receiver and longbranch barrel 308

and I take this mount

You need to be aware that you cannot mount the scope with the PH 4/47 sight in place (it will foul the rings)
This is partly the reason that the Enforcer uses the PH 5E/4 sight which is set back to the rear.

You will also find that if you do manage to find a PH5E/4 sight ( which is more difficult to find than the RAHS4 rings) that you will not be able to use the safety. There was a special safety made for the Enforcer and you will NOT find one of these.

I had the opportunity to shoot Lavoltiges' rifle last winter . Several friends and I took turns and put all our shots in one ragged hole in the same target at 100 yards. Well, there was an exception, but the kid was brought up on telescopic sights, not apertures He was about an inch off...

Don't know if it just me but the responses on here lately seem to have more to do with folks opinions or commercial acquaintances and or links to a certain auction site than actual answers, or is it just me?

From the original post we did not know what the OP had, or wanted to do.

He could have had an Enforcer mising the scope and rings - having bought a scope he now needed the rings.

I dont think anyone would hesitate to suggest ebay as possibly the best source in the world for hard to get parts.

It was as the thread progressed and not until post 12 that we found out that he is trying to build an Enforcer and it was suggested that he could not do it with the parts he already had ( 4/47 and safety).

I think anyone trying to build, or resurect, an Enfield ( or anything else) would be grateful for any leads that would help them source the parts they need - but maybe its just me !!!

Nothing wrong with making a clone. The "real deal" not always available or within the budget. Seeing more No4T's, L42's and target rifles clones appearing at the range these days. Ron
