i have less than 600.00 in restoring that one, depends who is doing the work i guess, the scope was the most expensive part with the mount than anything, entire build and restoration i have about 575.00 in it, i am happy with that with the mint bore it has and all matching numbers. Like i said came from samco 100% genuine real sniper model just had scopes removed , i redid the stock, and slapped the 43 progress and base and mount off to range. and the 600.00 dollar mosin snipers have mismatched scopes as well not the original ones or mounts 99% of the time or all matching numbers. If you know what you are doing it is very economical and have a good source for the parts needed. And all the numbers but the scope and mount match on this rifle. Hve to disagree withthat one.JMO i can do em cheaper.

I think if one wants to restore a good ex-sniper, that is OK. If saving $25 is all you are saying the reason to do it is not economics IMO. A good original scope, mount, base, bolt, screws, etc. is not cheap. The optics package will generally be $300-350. A Samco scopeless rifle will be about $300 with mismatched numbers. I love these by the way and have 3 or 4. They are not ex-snipers though, just snipers without their optics package.

Biggest problem is that an restored ex-PU will generally not bring the money of a legit arsenal refurb PU. I have had and do have most every combination of PUs one can have. I would prefer an original, matching non-refurb. They are hens teeth.

I just like doing the work myself .Not really looking to resell them, i just keep adding them to my collection , somtimes i may sell one to get something else. I am more of a shooter type collecter guy, my concern is always bore and mechanical condition than outside appearance , i like building them accurizing them , seeing just how good i can make it shoot , occasionaly use one to hunt deer with. IF you look what it was when i started , and what it looks like now, that is satisfaction to me to restore the old warse into close as i can when they used then and trying to match their skills with mil-surp and some of my handloaded ammo. And they are crowd drawers at the local range, and my samco came all matching numbers i got mine when they first put them up for sale. Probably out of matching number ones now,But they just got in a batch of pu snipers the other day they have up for sale, sent me the flyer....
