I think what Peter is trying to say it that the rifle is accurate, and that has nothing to do with the scope. You would expect the same sort of groups, from that rifle, if it had a good aperture sight or a modern scope as long as the mounts are solid and the shooter could do his bit.

Peter, I think what Mudgee is trying to say is that the scope mounting has proven itself to be a good solid set up...

Conversely, if you had three mug shooters, or a barrel with a bulge at the muzzle (extreme case) or the scope did not return to position, hold it's setting or not mounted solid, the groups would have been much larger. Many factors are in play to get the results... any one of which could have ruined the day if it was wrong.
