    2k05gt, did the seller make it a point to mention that 'single rune'? If he did, I would be inclined to agree with kar98k about it being an add on to get more money. But you mentioned that you wondered what that 'zig zag' mark was, so maybe he didn't? kar98k is correct, never say never with rifles like these.
    Of course there's that whole 'Buchenwald' association with the bcd.....but still, have NEVER seen a bcd coded 98k with a single rune either.

    No, he did not, I never knew what it was until someone pointed it out. I thought that it may have been a partial stamp from capture.

    the capture mark is the "x" directly above the serial number on the receiver. that rune mark is perplexing in as much as it *IS* a single rune. authentic? it looks to be but i won't say for certain. i can't. here's a real one:

    and i think the "77" on your barrel is just a part lot number.
