My question is why? What's to gain other then cost of ammo.

I like the historic value that goes alone with the carbine.

If someone makes it, someone will buy it!
Look at all gun manuf.,They are all making every version/cal. weapon you can amagine. AR15 for ex. GK

why?

Because the only thing here in Canada that's harder to get then the guns is reasonably priced ammo. Import on the guns remains to be seen though.
