AJ Parker Iris thread pitch question
Hello gentlemen. I'm currently trying to put together a 1917 match gun using a AJ Parker 3/49 rear sight I picked up on another forum. I don't have an iris for the sight and I'm pretty particular about what I want to get.
My question is, does the AJ Parker TZ 3/49 use the same thread pitch as Parker Hale sights? M .40X10 fine I believe.
My preference is the Parker Hale "Six-Hole tubular eyepiece with dead centre feature" because it's historically correct and it will accept corrective lenses which I'll need soon. Behmann makes some of their line with Parker Hale threads. It wouldn't be historically correct, but would work if the threads are the same.
Thanks for the help.

Yes - at least my combination fits. I'll check the thread this morning.

??? This is not a thread designation with which I am familiar. M is used for metric threads, with the format diameter in mm - pitch in mm. So M 0.4x10 would be 0.4mm diameter, but 10 mm pitch!!!
I have just measured a fistful of A.J. Parker and Parker-Hale sights and eyepieces. The thread on all of them is 0.225" diameter, 40 t.p.i. A nuisance, because none of my model engineering 40 tpi sets quite fits.
Gehmann eyepieces usually have metric threads (I have a couple). The P-H-compatible ones are rare, so measure carefully before buying!.
How can I be so sure? - Been there, tried it, gave up, and bought P-H eyepieces from Fulton's of Bisley!

Derp, sorry. Gehmann was what I meant.
As far as thread pitch, I was just repeating what an Ebay seller quoted me regarding his modern Gehmann Parker-Hale compatible iris.
Thanks for the comments! I've posted this question on a couple boards in the last week or so and you guys are the first intelligent responses so far.
Cheers!

Thanks for the Fulton's of Bisley remark. I emailed them a couple questions.

I find the old irises bad on the eyes myself so Im planning to upgrade to modern type. You can also get an adapter that converts a modern threaded eye piece to the PH thread.

Where does someone acquire such an adapter?

Today I received my Gehmann #510PH iris and it threaded right in perfectly to my AJ Parker rear sight.
I'll post pictures soon of the whole package put together on my 1917.
Thanks to everyone for their input.
