I have always understood that German WWII sniper rifles were, in general, fitted with commercial scopes that were made for hunting rifles. There were several different manufacturer-specific mounts, for clamp/hook/twist fittings, and some scopes of the period had integral mounts. So do not leap in and buy some kind of scope and mounts without first knowing what is supposed to fit into the bases. Find yourself a gunsmith who specializes in German/Austrian hunting rifles. He may be able to identify the specific scope and mounts that went with the bases.

If you can post really GOOD, SHARP photos of the bases, I may be able to get a local gunsmith to identify them. DIMENSIONS of any slots or other fixings would also be helpful.
