I did get a response yesterday. He deeply apologized for the delay. He had problems with the finish.

This stuff seems to vary from batch to batch. Some will cure in air over the woodstove in 24 hours sufficiently to be laid on a tray and baked at 250 in an oven for day, some apparently remains soft and then these marks appear from the rests used to support them in the oven. Most annoying as the affected parts must then be blasted clean and reparked and painted. I've taken to doing them only as required as when a larger batch go wrong it is a right PITA!
