Stock bolt leather wad removal
Any tips on removing the leather wad in front of the butt stock bolt? I tried using a coat hanger and a brass rod formed with a hook to remove the wad but they are too flexible to pull the leather wad out. I can hook onto the backside of the leather but it slips back out when I apply pressure to remove the wad. The leather seems to have expanded in the butt stock.
Thanks,
Rick

The hook should do it but make it very small and it won't be so prone to bending.

I have had good luck with the coat hanger method over the years, but picked up one of these on my last order. Won't do you much good today, but might come in handy down the future.

Brian,
Thanks for the link. I went to Lowes and picked up a #2 phillips head x 16" long screwdriver. I cut off the tip, heated the tip with a torch and shapped it similar to the offical tool.
The washer came out on the third try with the tool.

There was actually an issue tool called a 'TOOL, removing, wad, stockbolt'. Made of brass rod and no, I never used one twice! Just a coathanger like everyone else!
