Information Sought On Remington M1902A3
Hi guys,
I am looking to purchase a renewed M1903A3 rifle here for Service Shooting Competitions.
Lawrence Ordnance here have renewed (their word) ones at around AUS $1500.00.
One is Marked REMINGTON 3738907 scant stock the other REMINGTON 3967234 C stock.
They were refurbished by Rockridge Machine Works and have new Military profile Criterion barrels fitted along with new woodwork. Both have the correct small aperture sight.
The question to those who know about the 1903 which would be the better stock to get comfort wise for rifle competitions Scant or C and do you think they are worth the money?
Cheers
Dick
P.S. I only have Enfields, Omark and FR8's to play with currently.

Aussie48 is in Australia, so getting him a rifle might not be easy. I don't have a handle on Australian prices, either.

Thanks for the offer Chuck will keep it in mind but our import laws/restrictions are some what horrendous, prices here are to say the least exorbitant. I could pick up a used 1903A3 for under that price here but thought as it's only a shooter why not start with a new barrel and wear it out myself over time instead of having one already worn out albeit with history.

No body answered the question, but in MHO, the C stock is the only way to go if your not "shooting" for an original configuration rifle, "pun intended".

I checked out the 1903's at Lawrence after I purchased the one in the link below:
1903a1
I too am based in Australia and involved with the SSAA / MRC and Combined Services, attended the Canberra Nationals in October.
The one in my link had a 1K price tag on it, they are around if you are prepared to wait till the right one surfaces!!

Hi H.e.s.h,
Have been checking Abused Guns for some time best to date is a 1903 MK1 marked as good condition scant stock (doesn't do it for me) with a 42 barrel for $1100, figured best to spend the extra $400 and get one in as new shooting condition as that's what it is intended for. The good condition description should be sent to the ACCC for flase advertising, it looks like it has been dragged through every swamp between here and Timbuktu

I know what you mean, however they (1903's) do bring a premium this side of the "pond".
A member of our team for MRC events also has a 1903 with the Pedersen cutout, he paid close to 1K for it and from memory its in similar condition to the one on XXXX guns.
If your going to shoot it suggest the first one you mentioned, its hard shooting something with inherent collector value unless if for the specialty shoots.
