RCBS primer pocket swager,, Stuck cases?
I busted the ball on my handle because I have to beat the thing with a dead blow hammer to get the cases off the swager. I'm new to loading 5.56 so never had to use a swager. It's setup per directions and I've watched youtube videos to confirm I'm setup right. My questions are, is this normal? Can someone measure the small swager so that I can confirm mine isn't oversized.
Any tips are appreciated. If I can't figure this out I'll have to go in a different direction as beating on my press is just stupid.

I've used many different swagers, I'd suggest you get the Dillon and be done.
I have an RCBS swager, but not sure it's the same one you have...or I'd measure it. You shouldn't be having that much trouble though... Dillon and be good to go...

It's the set that comes in a die box, used on a single stage press. Large or small swager takes the place of the shell holder.
Yeah, something ain't right.

I have a RCBS set and have never had any problems with either size. I will measure mine and post the size later, unable to do it right now.
Measured with a Mitutoyo and am not a machinist so don't knows exactly where to measure the diameter as there is a very slight taper to the swage.
It measured .1715 at the top and .1730 just above where it bells out to form the base. I have no idea if this helps.

Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?

Thank you Enfield. I'm getting .174 on top and .180 on the bottom.
My suspicions are correct I have an oversized swager. Going to chuck up in the drill and sand it down and re polish. Thanks again for the measurements..

Fixed it. Didn't measure, just keep going until it swaged and came off easy like in the videos. Seated a couple test primers to confirm. Thanks guys....
This lesson cost a plastic ball and a sore palm.
