Does anyone have any background on these stocks with the spacer added. Purchased one on EBAY, coming today, for next to nothing. Info I already have says unissued. Thanks, Bob

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Sarco, Sterling, NJ had cases of new in the wrapper "MT" marked stocks for the re-barreled to 7.62 NATO Italian icon

rifles. They had a wooden filler added to the front of the stock so that they would fit a standard length M1. Many were painted black to hide the seam. I used a short, as made, version to build a 7.62 NATO rifle with a 1/2" shortened barrel.
