    It's been my observation that flat bolts most always toss the cases forward to 1:00-2:00 or so and the round bolts tend to eject them rearward to 5:00 - 6:00.

    THis is what I have observed also. My 6 digit Inland mix-master has a flat bolt, early ejector, and early slide. It tosses them between 1 and 2 o'clock. The Transitional late 1944 Winchester I sold last spring had a round bolt, late slide and late ejector. If I remember correctly, it tossed them 5:30 TO 6 o'clock, sometimes on top of my head.
