    New 1944 DOT K98

Picked up this K98 last week.

    The good:
    - Overall the gun is in excellent condition including the bore

    The bad:
-Redfield peep sight added. Very nice sight though
    -Front sight replaced
-Bolt does not match action, but the bolt itself is all matching and very nice

    Questions:
Is the word "Germanyicon" below the rear sight on right hand side an import mark
What is the approximate value of this K98 with the receiver drilled for peep sight and non-matching bolt

It would be. It identifies the country of origin.

Hard to say on the value but it does hurt it from the military collector standpoint. Looks like the stock was notched along with the drill and tapping of the receiver. It's also missing it's front sight hood.
