actually that was what they call a "Fat Boy" hammer. there are two* types of doglegs, then the fatboy (technically the 3rd fatboy). The fatboy was used a short time followed by the introduction of the straight hammer.
they had issues with some early parts some they modified to for safety issues or breakage, others changed to save time. I believe the Fat Boy was to save time.
