Factoid: Indian conversion proofs

I just purchased a .410 / musket (1931). This one is a 1904 Sparkbrook SHTLE I** IP unconverted to standard .410.

The Factoid, which I have not seen on my other musket conversion, is the Indian gunsmith proofed over the Sparkbrook proof at the chamber ( GRI left side) and placed a new serial number on it. However the wrist socket still shows the Sparkbrook name and date faintly.

So just because it looks painted or rough your Enfield still can be a gem.

Thought I would share my observation and add to what we know.

PS Took a 9 pointer today, iron sights / Remington 215 gr with my 1943 Long Branch 1/3. Babies still work wonders.
