.223 Ammo for a M4
I came across this Fiocchi .223 Orange Polymer Tip Rounds 50 gr. (.223 HVA50 50GRS V-MAX Polymer TIP BT) and says 3300 fps from Muzzle and they were on Sale for 200 Rounds for 89.00. I never used this Ammo in a Carbine and was wondering if anyone knows what to expect out of 50 gr at that Velocity. I'm shooting it out of a 1:8 Ratio Barrel. I've heard Good things and Bad things about this Ammo. I will be finding out in about 3 weeks when my B-I-L comes down for a visit. But any information what to watch out for like Caked Up after using it or how bad this will get all inside the M4. Like I read Primer Problems, Loading and Feeding problems . I still have 60 rounds of 52 gr. or 54 gr. of 5.56 to use up. I have been reading reviews, but would love some first hand experience if anyone has tried it. Will this be good enough for my guest or should I order a different brand before the end of next week when he gets here. I always like to use different ammo for performance testing, but really like to get reviews from first hand users. Thanks Guys in Advance if anyone has anything to say about it.
Frank

I shoot 55 grain M193 and 62 grain M855 in my M4 carbine SBR with a 14.5" 1x7 twist barrel and it performs beautifully with both. I'd be leery of going much lighter than the 55 grain projectile in a fast twist barrel, especially the ultra high velocity ammo you're asking about. That being said, every barrel is different and i suppose it wouldn't hurt to try it to see if it'll perform. If it doesn't, save it for your slow twist AR and get some reasonably priced 55 grain M193 ammo for plinking purposes.

Just like Shoot and See Targets-load and shoot and see how it works!
All barrels are different, some will, some won't.
At that price, nothing to loose.

I like it...I shot 15 Rounds rounds behind the neighborhood 2 days ago. My friend drove me, i been been anxious to shoot it. I like it. It stayed POA, but it felt a little week but sounded the same. To me it's great Ammo for Varmint or a nice Clean Head Shot to them pigs. It's is definitely worth the cheaper price to have some in Ammo Stash. I don't like wasting my 5.56 higher grain ammo and this is fun to shoot. I brought it home and there was barely any Residue. It was pretty much clean, but then again when I do shoot it I shoot it a lot and have to clean it good. For the Price I will buy some more for my Ammo Stock and take it if I'm just going to take it to have some fun or let others shoot it like most of my friends who just can't wait to shoot it. I won't feel do bad when wasting good ammo.

That may not just be "feel" any of the Fiochhi ammunition I have run was loaded quite a bit lighter, their 7.63 Mauser and .455 Webley Mark II was quite lightly loaded.

You guys are right on with what I was saying. These cheaper lighter loads can be fun when your not out Target Shooting with other people that want to. But if you just want to have some fun and let someone shoot it..You do feel better using thee lighter loads in any type of Ammo. I had the chance to get into the Buyers Club for half price which was only 17.50 with Tax for a year to try out and buy all the items from the The Sportsman Guide and the savings is remarkable. I'm glad I joined it they have SO many items to buy. They have parts, ammo, gear and the list would go on and on. I'm sure you been through there website, but if not give it a Look. You be surprised what you can get from them. I really like this place and Love the savings.

Thats is a Great Price. How did your Firearm look when you broke it down to clean ? I've shot some imported ammo where it is often maligned for being dirty and difficult to clean.I only use Federal if I'm going to do some Target Shooting with Friends then I look for ammo that comes close to it for the Ranch and not over excessively different than Federal. I like this Fiocchi.

Jim, When they had that promotion I Signed up Right Away...What I'm going to do is buy as much as I can here and there. It was only for a year and when they send you your Promo Code then I get the Buyers Club Price every purchase after it ends. My treatments start to get more aggressive on the 13th of next month and my Nephew leaves to Basic on Dec 2. I'm going to have him here for 3 days just breaking it down and putting it right back and show him what each part is for. I want him to have some knowledge. You get your Rifle on your 4th week (maybe a little sooner) that's what was my timeline back then. Then I will have him Shoot around a couple of thousand rounds or more. I want him to go into training with some knowledge, who knows it might help him alot or be more confident to know how this type of Rifle works.
