Help on a possible L39 BUT not stamped L39

I've got a 'clone' here that I purchased recently. Hammer price was £180, they aren't worth much here now. PF- Mk.2 action.

Still a few "clones" out there with a L42 barrel on, plus the 7.62 mag........ if its got a PH sight or similar then a bonus, its worth more in parts.... on the subject of parts, what would be the going price of a L42 barrel ? as the L42 themselves have reached the £10,000 plus here in the UK, a spare (Used but good) barrel must be worth a tidy sum ?

I would have thought so Geoff, there must be people looking for a suitable replacement barrel that would snap your hand off!

On the same subject as £10,000 + L42's, have you seen the prices of the once humble and "cheap" No4 now, good original examples with good bores seem to be rising in value very quickly !

I,m sure its seasonal with the No4, at times it was demanding a higher premium than the SMLE, other times lower....... I would of thought the WW1 centenary may have had an effect on the SMLE.

To be honest, given that almost no-one is going to wear out an L42 or L39 barrel these days, part-used spare barrels are worth little more than scrap value. There are an awful lot around. I've got about twenty loose barrels myself, and another ten Enfield-barrelled target rifles that will inevitably be broken up for parts just to get them off my register. There is one trade gunsmith who probably has hundreds of the barrels, given the number of target rifles he scraps to make de-act No4s.
