Again I learn something today, I had never heard of the INSAS rifle and gave wikipedia a quick look over.
An interesting take on a service rifle, and trust India to copy, clone, and kludge something together.
Main speaking points are a 5.56mm rifle which is 9.1 lbs unloaded and features what AR15 users refer to as a "pencil barrel". I especially like the bit of engineering that must have went into the Lubrication, Jet, Eyeball Mark 1.
Makes the Chinese evolution of Type-53 (Mosin-Nagant) -> Type-56 (AK-47) -> Type 81 (Modernized SKS) -> Type 95 (Bullpup Rifle) -> Type 03 (Non-bullpup Type 95) look positively first rate by comparison.
