Back when the CMPicon was selling greasy Greek rifles, I asked buyers to report their barrel steel lot codes when they disassembled their rifles for cleaning. On a Springfield Armory rifle, the barrel steel lot code is underneath the wood and the rifle must be completely disassembled to see it. I would never ask anyone to disassemble their rifle just for the sake of reporting their barrel steel lot code to me. But, the greasy Greek rifles had to be disassembled anyway for cleaning. So, many hundreds of buyers were kind enough to report the codes to me.

I recently released a star gauge record number chart for internet publication. You should see it soon. And I need to get busy and prepare a barrel steel lot code chart. I now have plenty of data to do so.

    Thanks for your interest!
