Krinko,
They are one of the "best" outdoorsmen rifles Parker Hale ever made, you'll see what I mean when you get on the range. They feature in many African hunters type films of the 60's and 70's.
They are a great rifle and you won't be dissapointed.
Be good to see what it shoots like now if you get a chance please?

This is a rifle that gets handed down from father to son and continues to hunt for many years...

Nice rifle, I have one in 270 with the disco trim and roll over, its funny to watch my lefty son get belted in the chops when he shoots it. Surprised the safari doesnt have a magnum cross-bolt, nice and light without a scope on it.

I'll shoot a target or two if you like. In fact, I have some nice M72 Match that might be perfect for this.

I'll break it out and should have a nice target once the straw is cut. I want to try some 150g handloads I made for hunting the cripples by the river, mite even put a scope on it.

Here is am image of the PH 270 along with a .30 BSA from about the same time frame, I think they are a good example of what offerings were available during the time and represent consumer interest/trending at the beginning of the do it yourself era.The BSA which is not as gaudy is pinned vs. Cross bolt but the PH has a palm swell which seems to not be an evolutionary dead-end. I would certainly prefer to tote one or the other vs. whats out there today and absolutely love it when one comes up for sale. I kind of like them but there is alot of flash. You would think that everyone who has a cell phone glued to their head would want one

Yep. Your Safari is a PH 1000 model. They were made on ex-military receivers. The 1100 and 1200 models were made on the Spanish Santa Barbara commercial receivers without the thumb cut.
Cheers.
