    I got an M1!

    I'm normally a Mauser and Mosin collector operating with a bottom feeder budget. But realizing CMPicon was running out of them, I talked SWMBO into letting me spring for one. I got a nicer and better one than I had hoped to expect. This was some months ago, CMP is about out now save for some really pricey ones, but I never got around to posting it here. So here it is!
    Order sent in to CMP 4/27/15 and rec'd June 4, 15;

    From CMP website; Wood may be of new production on Service Grade Garands. Bores will be generally good with only minor imperfections. The barrel crown may be nicked, but the muzzle will gauge "3 or less" and the throat erosion will gauge less than 5.
    Luck of the draw for Springfield or Harrington & Richardson manufacturer.

    What came; Springfield! Muzzle reading- 1! Throat reading- 2!! Original stock and h'guard matching color, beech I think.

    Turned out it was made in 1955, same as me! I have since cleaned it up someat. That stock's a looker! I was gentle! Cleaned it with acetone then rubbed in a little BLOicon. Finally a petite rubdown with 0000 steel wool for raised grain or fuzz. That's all.
    1st pic, before cleaning, 2nd after.

    I just picked up a triple of this ammo from CMP. $115 +no shipping fee for 192rd in enbloc clips and bandoleers in a sealed spam can. I consider that a great deal while others or waiting a couple months for the 200 loose rounds of same ammo in a ammo can for $136.

    Thanks for looking!

    Learn to roll your own then. They gobble ammo quicker then Cookie Monster can chomp a chocolate chip.

    She Who Must Be Obeyed -- "Ayesha" from H. Rider Haggard's "She," a minor classic.

    I didn't know the origin, it just fits! Lol.
    As for the range report, I'm working on it! I've been meaning to get out and try out this CMPicon greek mmo but, life keeps getting in the way! I'll manage it soon enough.
    Of course, don't expect much. My back yard range only extends to about 75yds and advancing aged coupled with declining health attended by various medicines and I am not the shot I once was. But I'll share what I've got left. I still enjoy it and am passing that onto my kids and that's the important part.

    A 3 foot table and a sandbag, a chair and a set of ear defenders...targets will look fine.

    My experience has been that the CMPicon under-promises and over-delivers
