    Did not the P-14 bayonet have smooth grips and the P-17 the grooved?

    No, the P14 and M1917 bayonets are the same. It was done to avoid the confusion that this thread has right now.

    I wouldnt think so. They were the same shape/profile Rifles. Only the internal calibre was different. so a P.17 Bayonet SHOULD fit both types?
