5thBatt, would your oiler with the M.A. marking be of WW2 vintage? This is one I haven't seen before and I had assumed that they would be plastic by this period. So far I haven't confessed to being an oiler collector although I do have a few and I am suffering a little from "oiler envy" after seeing the fine examples in Posts 21 & 22.

Regarding Australian
oilers, according to one of the oiler sites stars on both ends is up to the mid? 20's with a brief period of MA one end and star on the other then MA from then on. The feeder factories weren't opened till ww2, as there are brass OA oilers, brass oilers were still in production in australia in ww2.

I wondered why one of my oilers had MA on the base and a star on the cap and production dates so there you go learned two things today

At least its Enfield based......... there are folk who collect packaging, early Mcdonalds wrappers, cups etc are highly sought after. (I have to say I've nothing to do with collecting packaging etc) Just something I read once, quite jaw dropping at what someone had paid at the time for an old burger box. See link below.
