Could be a 1910-R with the dovetail cut on the barrel.

Pictures would be a big help in identifying what you actually have.

You are correct thank you. I was thinking of the dovetail block on the .280 M10. If the cut in the barrel is like that of a Winchester buckhorn, about half an inch wide at the bottom of the slot, then could be a Model R.



The Model E had a two-leaf "express" sight, or at least mine does, so no dovetail there unless someone removed the leafs and milled out their base. This is an M10 from the Porter rear sight, but the barrel sight base is basically the same.
