I would have thought that there are enough No4's to keep the Rangers going for the next 200 years. A very large batch of LB's were shipped to the UKa few years ago and the whole lot deactivated

I had a chance to see a few of these at an arms fair last year and they appeared to have had very little use indeed, going by the general condition, the crown and the bolt resistance on closing.
Ammo is also no issue, with suppliers still manufacturing .303 and no sign of that changing for the foreseeable future.
So, is this more to do with the weight etc and perhaps some official embarrassment of using a 70 year old rifle??
