I thought my eyes were playing tricks there...I've never seen one with a brown stock, only black.

The January issue of The American Rifleman has a really good article on the AR-7 including a sidebar on mysterious AR-7s from Israel. The brown stocked ones command a premium.

In addition to the original Armalite I have some from Charter Arms and the new production ones from Henry Repeating Arms.
Charter Arms also made a pistol version called the explorer II.
