A piling swivel will have a differently shaped lug to keep it from pivoting forward.

M17 and P14 piling swivels are sometimes passed off as SMLE swivels as they look very similar, and they are cheaper. If Bushy is in the market for piling swivels there are traps for the unsuspecting.

A few weeks on and something has changed with the gunstock. I moved it out of the safe tonight and it appears to have developed a very fine powdery white residue on the surface, almost like its some kind of mineral deposit
Any ideas??

No idea, but my guess its something to do with oil evaporating from pores in the wood.

It won't be oil...I'm surprised no one else has jumped in here...it'll be a chemical.
