M1A1 Stock crack questions
Hello,
This question is for Mr Derrico. Cracks in M1A1
stocks are common. Normally, they are seen in the recoil place area, on the back of the stock and on the underside. For cracks in the recoil plate area, would the fix be different if the owner wanted to shoot it?
I've seen glue repairs but wonder if arsenal like brass pin repairs (or some other type of repair) would be necessary so it could withstand recoil.
Thank you in advance.

m1a1fan, those cracks you describe are common. I do recommend the threaded brass pins if the gun is going to be shot (glued & screwed).
A lot of collectors choose to have me only glue cracks back together if the stocks are going to be non-shooters vs. shooter stocks. HTH
Best Regards.....Frank

Frank, thanks for the reply. I figured it would take more than just glue to fix such a crack so it would hold up for shooting. BTW, I've seen your work. Fantastic! Skilled craftsman are a rare breed.
