One would like to think #14 that if the issue was resolved let the forum know how it was resolved for future reference if another case happens again with this issue also that if in the resolution of your issue was because you received advice from one of the members here that due recognition is given to the people here as there is no where else that I know of in E-Land where you will receive the technical guidance from the armourers & gunsmiths here, all free of charge as I bet the gunsmith did not miss you mine certainly doesn't........

My guy contacted his uncle who is also a gunsmith and has alot more experience with old and milsurp rifles than he does. The rear of the rifle was just harder than he was used to but evidently not unusual for Remington receivers. He got a carbide bit and tapped it fine.

You had a gunsmith with the receiver in hand and he couldn't sort it. You come here and ask us without even a picture to tell you how to fix it...not just one thread but two. You get what you pay for. We have no idea if anything is resolved, or more likely you're too embarrassed to say. Either way, doesn't matter.
