I've been trying to find one of those for my son-in-law for the past couple of months. Finally found a batch of them for $99 at Oaks this weekend but they were so bad we just couldn't pull the trigger. I found one that had a complete un-cracked stock, a fair bore and a crest but he couldn't make up his mind since it was still early. So I set it back knowing it probably wouldn't be there later and it wasn't. The rest were basically garbage. Any with good bores had badly damaged stocks, any with nicer stocks had poor bores or deep pitting at the wood line. I told him this batch must have been from the bottom of the bottom barrel. He just wanted something to play around with and get some experience with but really not much point putting a whole lot of money into something that is never going to be worth much. I'm steering him towards a Swedishicon 96 or a Swissicon K31 now but prices have skyrocketed on both.

Even a couple of years ago good ones were going for $200 to $300. Maybe a little patience on the gun-for-sale websites will pay off. I am into mine for about $600 now. Had it for 30+ years but recently refurbished it. I did not do a mil-resto. It was not a good candidate for that. And all I wanted was a good shooter to tinker with.
