My new "project". Enfield No2Mk1
Hello.
I'm a rifle guy, but couldn't pass up this local offering.
It's a '34 model, not "upgraded", with full hammer and front sight.
The hammer will not cock, neither manually nor by operating the trigger, when the action is closed and the cylinder is properly aligned.
The hammer cocks if the action is broken open or if the cylinder is positioned between two chambers.
I'm a revolver noob and I'm not finding much online for resources. If anyone knows of information on disassembly and reassembly or troubleshooting, I'd be grateful for the guidance.
Thanks.
Jay

First, you need the little .38" Enfield book by Skennerton
and Stamps. Then - and only then - you need to strip the barrel latch and grips and unscrew the 4x screws holding the side plate and lift that off. Do not do anything else yet, This is because unless you know EXACTLY what we are talking about when we refer to certain parts by their correct names that are in the book, things will go hopelessly wrong. In the meantime, read up everything you can about these llittle revolvers that you can find in this forum section.

As Peter is pointing out, revolvers aren't as simple as they seem. If you show us a clear pic of the working parts, Peter may be able to tell you from there anyway...what's wrong.

Do the serial numbers on the frame, barrel, and cylinder match?

Taking this a bit further in the hope that Jaytex will reemerge, it seems as though half of the problem is self evident. That the pistol works when it's opened but not when it's closed. So the problem MUST be something to do with the cylinder or cylinder pawl or cylinder stop. Go from there...............
Nope........ nothing further from Jaytex. Would have been interesting for me and others to learn.

Not relevant to the OP, but I have no 429 (all matching) - sadly deactivated though...

429 would make it 1930 I think. I have its younger brother 489 and I also have 42, 52 and 177 which are 29 dated.

Its a 1929/1930 mix - the frame is 1930 and barrel is 1929!
