When I was looking into the possibilities of .50 long to .50 short for the M8C, was told that cutting the standard cases short meant that they were too thick to be re-shaped unless the machine was hydraulic. And then the neck was too thick. You could use thinner walled blank cases but...... enthusiasm waned by then!
That flash spotter stuff was pretty good. You could see the hits in any weather. They'd hit and flash far beyond the range of the 120mm Wombat RCL. Less said about the BAT the better!
