I think that the question was raised about the "C.F." on a Lanchester mag housing some time ago and no-one was sure of it's meaning.

Lanchester Mk1*
Here's a Mk1 with the * that has the same 'Export symbol' -><- and S for (Sold).
Along with the CF, ending up in denmark.
FWIW,
Charlie-P777
The brass receiver housing from a Lanchester Mk.I*. The M/94 stamp indicates it was part of W.W.Greener’s subcontract, and the stamp on the rear flange is 1942. This particular gun has the ∋∈ cleared-for-export marking and a post-WWII “S” (sold) indicating it was actually exported.

Can that tool not also double as a mine detection with the pig sticker attached I know the grunts/crunchies are not engineers but they do get taught to detect mines well in the day I they did.
Now days just use something like a Giant viper to clear the minefield.

Yes, it was used for that as well. I learned probing for mines when I started out...not something you want to do except in emergency, like the realization you're now in the MIDDLE of the minefield.

It reads like the author of that article learned a good deal about it from this site. Could be wrong of course!

Hello Peter,
I don't stand behind the article..... I was grabbing any info I could find, just trying to help. Not often that the Wife is gone and all is quiet on the homefront so one can concentrate. I know very little about the Lanchester.
Cheers

Hey, Painter, please don't think that I object one bit. It wasn't a criticism either. In fact I didn't even realise it was you that wrote it. Kind regards too.
