    No a type 2 sight will still block the Winchester name. A type 1 will allow you to see it and the serial number again. If it's got crater type stake marks on it then why not just get a reproduction type 1. It really won't matter that much if it's a square S original or not as the craters make it obvious to anyone looking at it and it will shoot the same as an original.

    What if front sight blade is set up for the rear adj sights 100 setting?

    I'd be afraid that Repro (out of specs) site may mess up the dovetail edges.
